An independent guide to Mallorca
Written for people who would rather understand an island than consume it.
island mallorca is an editorial guide to the island of Mallorca. We do not sell trips, rank hotels or accept payment for mentions, and you will not find affiliate links here. What we publish is the knowledge a curious traveller or a second-home owner needs and rarely finds in one place: how the regions differ, how the wind decides the beach, which day the market comes, how long the drive really takes.
How we work
Every place and guide is written and edited in house, dated and checked against official sources where rules, protected areas or public services are concerned. Our guides name towns, beaches, monasteries, museums and public institutions, but no hotels, restaurants or shops, so that nothing in them can be bought. The one exception is the series From the houses: news from established island names such as hotel groups, foundations and wineries, chosen and written by the editors and marked as such. Market days come from the official 2026 list of the Balearic government. Drive times and beach directions are our own careful estimates and are labelled as such.
The map
The island atlas is drawn from the coastline data of geoBoundaries (CC BY 4.0), with the mountains shown in stylised form. Places, beaches and viewpoints are placed by their coordinates.
Images
Photographs and aerial footage of Mallorca are licensed stock material and our own pictures. Where an image was created with artificial intelligence, it carries an "AI generated" label on the image itself. Images of food, wine and interiors in the guides illustrate the subject and do not show a particular business. Pieces in the series From the houses use press photographs of the house concerned, credited under each picture.
The tools
The tools run entirely in your browser. They store nothing on a server, and the list you build with the heart stays in your browser until you choose to send it.
